Meet the Presenter

Bethany McLemore Stewart is owner and copy editor at Second Read Editing. She has more than ten years of professional instructional, administrative, research, writing, and editing experience. She holds a PhD (2016) and master’s (2012) in historical musicology from The University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s (2010) in music (flute) from Abilene Christian University. After spending over a decade researching, writing, and teaching in both artistic and academic realms, she now teaches and edits with the aim of demystifying professional and scholarly writing forms to contribute to the democratization of artistic and academic spaces.

At ARP, Bethany leads writing-focused lectures and workshops on topics pertaining to grant proposals, cover letters, resume/ CVs, newsletters, and other professional documents. She also leads one-on-one proofreading, editing, and writing consultations for active ARP members.

ARP provides one-on-one consultations with Bethany via Zoom free for members who attend her lectures and workshops. Members may request a proofreading and feedback session for their professional documents at this link.
